The draft order has had a major shake-up after a frantic AFL trade period – and there could be more changes to come.

Clubs can continue to trade draft picks until November 8 before a pause until the national draft on November 20-21, when live trades are a key feature of the event.

Clubs are bracing for as many as 27 players to be taken in the first round in what is being rated one of the deepest drafts in years.

A combination of free agency compensation, father-son selections and academy picks will cause the first night of the draft to balloon out for consecutive seasons.

The 2023 AFL draft was the longest first round since GWS entered the league in 2011 (26 first round picks plus priority and compensation selections), with Carlton taking Ashton Moir with 사설 the 29th overall selection and the final pick of the first round.

While it is unlikely this year’s draft drags on as long, it could run close, with already five extra first-round selections due to free agency compensation and North Melbourne priority picks.
