Yang Ji-in (21, Korea National Sport University), a member of the shooting team, has won the 8th gold medal for the Korean team at the Paris Olympics.
Yang Ji-in won the gold medal after a close shoot-off in the 25m pistol final at the Paris Olympics held at the Chateauroux Shooting Center in France on the 3rd. This is the 3rd gold medal for the shooting team at this competition and the 8th gold medal for the Korean team.
Yang Ji-in, who advanced to the finals in 6th place with a combined score of 586 points in the main and sudden death shoots, defeated all strong competitors in the finals, which consisted only of sudden death shoots. In
this sudden death shoots event, the eight finalists shoot 5 shots in each series, for a total of 15 shots in 3 series, and the last-place shooter is eliminated after each series. You must shoot 10.2 points or more to get 1 point, and anything below 10.2 points is given 0 points.
Yang Ji-in, who scored 3 points in the first series, took the lead by hitting all 10 shots in both the second and third series. Yang Ji-in, who had been consistently leading the championship, tied for first place with Camille Jedrzejeski of the host country France with 37 points after finishing the 10th series. The two players then entered a shoot-off where the player with the higher score after shooting 5 shots would win. In the midst of extreme tension, while Jedrzejeski missed all of his first 3 shots, Yang Ji-in hit 2 out of 3 shots. Then, with the fourth shot, both players scored 1 point each, confirming Yang Ji-in’s gold medal. As if celebrating her first gold medal, Yang Ji-in hit her last 5 shots as well, winning the shoot-off 4-1.
With Yang Ji-in’s gold medal, the Korean shooting team has won three gold medals and two silver medals at this Olympics, tying the all-time record for Olympic shooting events. Before Yang Ji-in, Oh Ye-jin won gold in the women’s 10m air pistol event, and Ban Hyo-jin won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle event. Kim Ye-ji also won silver in the women’s 10m air pistol event, and Park Ha-jun (KT) and Geum Ji-hyun (Gyeonggi Provincial Office) won silver in the mixed 10m air rifle event. It has been 12 years since the 2012 London Games (three gold medals and two silver medals) that the Korean shooting team has won five medals at the Olympics. 안전놀이터
