Visitors to Seongsan Ilchulbong, one of Jeju Island’s most iconic landmarks and a top tourist destination, will soon be able to enjoy its famous sunrise year-round.

Jeju’s World Heritage Headquarters announced Thursday that starting from Oct. 27, the opening hours of Seongsan Ilchulbong, or sunrise peak, will be adjusted to allow visitors to experience the sunrise early in the morning.

From October to February, the opening time will be moved from 7:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. From March to September, it will shift from 7 a.m. to 5 a.m. During the summer months, from May 추천 to August, when the sunrise is earlier, visitors can enter as early as 4:30 a.m.

Seongsan Ilchulbong attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, with 1.095 million visitors in 2021, 1.427 million in 2022, and 1.544 million in 2023.

As of September 2024, 1.326 million visitors have already been recorded. Known for its unique rock formations and stunning ocean views, the hike from the entrance to the summit takes about 20 to 40 minutes.

Kang Seok-chan, head of the World Heritage Headquarters, said that “by adjusting the viewing times, ticket holders can now witness the magnificent sunrise from the summit of Seongsan Ilchulbong, offering a valuable experience of the natural beauty and world heritage site.”
