The Doosan Bears have won three straight games to boost their postseason hopes.

Doosan defeated the Hanwha Eagles 8-3 on Wednesday at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul, South Korea, in a home game of the KBO Baseball 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL League.

Sixth-ranked Doosan narrowed the gap to two games over fifth-ranked SSG Landers, who lost on the same day.

Meanwhile, eighth-ranked Hanwha, which had won six straight, saw its winning streak come to a halt.

Hanwha gave up the game-winning run on a wild pitch.

With the score tied 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Hanwha’s right-handed reliever Lee Min-woo threw a wild pitch at Kim Jae-ho that catcher Choi Jae-hoon couldn’t catch even if he reached over his head.

This allowed third baseman Park Kye-beom to score, and the other runners to reach third and second.

With runners on second and third, Kim Jae-ho hit a sacrifice fly to center field.

Doosan made it 6-3 in the bottom of the sixth when Jung Soo-bin, who hit a triple to right-center field, scored on a wild pitch by Hanwha right-hander Kim Kyu-yeon after Kim Jae-ho’s at-bat. It was a moment that sealed the victory.

The veteran Kim Jae-ho went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs on the day, including a single to left in the eighth inning.

Doosan opened the scoring in the first inning with a double to left field that put runners on first and second.

In the second inning, Park Jun-young hit a solo shot to left and Kim Jae-ho singled to right with runners on first and second to make it 3-0.

However, Doosan starter Kwak Bin Kwak worked around an infield single and two walks to load the bases in the top of the third, and then threw a wild pitch to Choi In-ho to allow the tying run to score.

Hanwha foreign hitter Nick Williams followed with a two-run double to left-center field to tie the game.

The game was won and lost in the bullpen battle.

Doosan took control of the middle innings after starter Kwak Bin was charged with three runs on four hits and four walks in just four innings, but Choi Ji-gang (1⅓ innings), Kim Myung-shin (1⅔ innings), Kim Kang-ryul (1 inning), and Hong Gun-hee (1 inning) split the remaining five scoreless innings.

Hanwha used eight pitchers, including starter Lee Tae-yang, but lost the bullpen battle.

Doosan took their 10th win in the last meeting of the season against Hanwha. 스포츠토토
