South Korean women’s speedskating ‘short track sensation’ Kim Min-sun (24, Government Complex) finished seventh in the 1,000 meters at the third International Ice Skating Union (ISU) World Cup of the 2023-2024 season. Kim crossed the finish line in 1 minute, 16.43 seconds in the women’s 1,000-meter division A (first round) on Sunday (Feb. 2) in Stavanger, Norway. She was 0.69 seconds behind third-place finisher Antoinette Leafmother Yong of the Netherlands in 1:15.74.Kim fell short of her personal best of 1:13.79 in the event. Kim’s main event is the 500 meters, not the 1,000 meters. Competing with Kazakhstan’s Alina Dauranova in a three-way heat, Kim started off strong, covering the first 200 meters in 18.0 seconds to take second place overall, but was unable to pull away and finished the race in 1:16.43, good for seventh place overall .His teammate, Inahyun Lee (NORWONGO), finished 17th out of 20 competitors in 1:17.87.In 슬롯게이밍 the men’s mass start division A, Jung Jae-won (Uijeongbu City Hall) finished sixth in 7:58.83.
