English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester United has hired Ruben Amorim, 39, as its next manager.
The Red Devils announced on their official website on June 2 (KST) that they have signed Amorim until June 2027. He will join the team on the 11th, when his current club, Sporting CP (Portugal), finalizes its affairs.
United have sacked manager Eric ten Haag. The search for a replacement has begun. The club has selected Amorim, a promising young coach at 39, as the next manager.
Van Gaal took over in April 2022 and led the club to the League Cup (Carabao Cup) in 2022-2023 and the FA Cup in 2023-2024. However, they struggled in the EPL.
He also failed to organize the locker room, with constant conflicts with established players like Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Amorim is the most highly regarded of the young managers.
He took charge of Sporting in March 2020 and won the league title in the 2020-2021 season and a second in 2023-2024.
He has already received offers from the likes of EPL side Manchester City and has been highly touted by City as a possible successor to Pep Guardiola. 파워볼사이트
United’s search for a new manager was a good one.
The Red Devils have been coached by assistant coach Van Nistelrooy on an interim basis. Amorim’s arrival is expected to shake up the club’s sluggish squad.
“Ruben Amorim has already spoken to the board of directors about reorganizing the squad and has already revealed that he plans to sell four players on the transfer market,” said Team Talk, a British soccer publication.
Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, and Anthony are the players in question.
Anthony and Casemiro have been the main culprits in Ten Haag’s downfall, with the latter performing extremely poorly as expected.
Amorim could also turn to Sporting newcomers Gonzalo Inacio, Marcus Edwards, and Pedro Goncalves as alternatives. Liu
