Noh Si-hwan talks about his big game.
The Hanwha Eagles won the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League against SSG Landers on April 30 at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon. Hanwha pulled off an 8-2 come-from-behind victory.
Noh Si-hwan, who started at third base, hit the game-winning home run in the bottom of the third inning. He finished 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI and two walks. Noh also had a strong game on defense.
Noh Si-hwan’s offense helped starter Ryu Hyun-jin earn the win. It was Ryu’s second win of the season and his 100th win in the KBO. Noh, who also had a game-winning hit in Ryu’s 99th win, became the “special helper” who helped Ryu reach 100 wins.
“Before today’s game, I made a plan to ‘hit in front of the plate in every at-bat without being late,’” Noh said. I think that’s why I was able to get a good hit in the 10th inning.”
“My pace was not good at the beginning of the season, so there was a part of me that was unknowingly atrophied. When I checked the ball and tried to hit it, the point was coming from behind, but I thought, ‘Even if I strike out four times today, I’ll try to hit it from the front,’” he said. Not being afraid of failure was what led to the big hit.
“I was aiming for a fastball, but the last pitch was a changeup,” Noh said of his home run, “so it was a bad swing, but it was a bad swing that didn’t feel bad. It was not a fake swing, but a timely swing, and I think the same ball came on the same course and connected with a good hit.”
After the game-winning hit, Noh was hit by a pitch twice more. “Actually, hitters like to get on base with high intentions. It’s good to be able to do it twice in one game,” he said, adding, ‘I think that means the opponent was scared of me.’
“Maybe Ryu should buy him some beef,” laughed Noh, who helped secure Ryu’s 100th win. “I think he likes me more when I play good defense than when I hit well,” Noh added.
“Today, Ryu Hyun-jin’s 100th win was on the line, and we all played with a lot of determination because we can only win with the help of the fielders. “We played with the mindset that we would definitely take 메이저토토사이트 care of what we needed to take care of and dive even if they gave us a hit,” he said. “We failed a few times (to reach 100 wins), but it was a home game today and I personally thought that it would be nice to reach 100 wins in front of a full house. I think that’s why I tried harder,” he reflected.
“In terms of confidence, I’m above (Toronto third baseman) Matt Chapman,” Noh said during the exhibition game. “I always have confidence. But when you have a bad record on the field, even if you think you have a good mental attitude, you get discouraged. I’ve been a little down lately, but I have to overcome that to become a good player. I will use today as a stepping stone to overcome it.”
