Yang Ji-in, who won the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol final at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at the Chateauroux shooting range in France on the 3rd (Korean time).
Yang Ji-in (21, Korea National Sport University), the ‘young ace’ of the national shooting team who won the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol at the 2024 Paris Olympics, confessed the burden she had to bear alone. She also revealed her feelings that she would like to enjoy Paris for a while now that she has achieved the best result. Yang Ji
-in recorded a total score of 37 points in the women’s 25m pistol final at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at the Chateauroux Shooting Range in France on the 3rd, and defeated Camille Jedrzewski of France in the shoot-off to take first place.
With this, Korean shooting has won its third gold medal at this competition, following Oh Ye-jin (19, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea) in the women’s 10m air pistol and Ban Hyo-jin (16, Daegu Physical Education High School) in the women’s 10m air rifle. Including the silver, this is the fifth medal in shooting alone.
Yang Ji-in also won gold in this event for the first time in 12 years, following Kim Jang-mi at the 2012 London Games.
Yang Ji-in, whom we met at the mixed zone after the awards ceremony, said with a happy expression, “I’m really happy to be able to raise the Taegeukgi in France. I had a lot of pressure throughout the game, but seeing the Taegeukgi washed away all my worries.”
The game that day was dramatic. Yang Ji-in recorded the same score as Dzhedrzejski up to the 50th shot, heading into the shoot-off. In the last five shots, Yang Ji-in scored 4 points, while Dzhedrzejski scored only 1 point, confirming Yang Ji-in’s victory.
Yang Ji-in said, “I was ahead and my mind wavered until the shoot-off, but I focused more with the thought that I couldn’t give up here,” and smiled, “I fired one shot first in the shoot-off and checked my opponent’s results on the monitor, and I’m really happy that I won.”
Yang Ji-in is a typical example of the ‘MZ generation’. She is so blunt that she calls her strength and weakness ‘living carelessly’. She is the type of person who doesn’t get nervous easily. However,
the Olympic stage was different. She thought it would be like other international competitions, but Yang Ji-in felt much more attention than usual.
Yang Ji-in said, “Chateauroux is far from Paris, so the Olympic atmosphere is less intense. So I thought I wouldn’t be nervous, but I was really nervous before the finals. I couldn’t stop thinking, ‘Can I do well?'” She said, “This morning, I even felt nauseous. But I overcame it thanks to the support of my teammates, coaches, and family.”
Yang Ji-in expressed her gratitude to coach Jang Gap-seok, the national team coach and a professor at Korea National Sport University, where she is a member.
After finishing her journey in Chateauroux, Yang Ji-in will head to Paris on the 4th to hold a press conference with other medalists for the Korean press. For Yang Ji-in, who stayed in Chateauroux throughout the competition, this is a chance to feel the Parisian atmosphere. Yang Ji-in said, “I’m going to stop by for a while, see Paris, and buy some souvenirs,” and expressed her modest hopes by saying, “I want to quickly return to Korea and eat a delicious home-cooked meal.” 바카라게임
