South Korean diving sensation Woo Haram, 26, fell short of his dream of winning his country’s first Olympic medal.

The South Korean diver finished 11th out of 12 in the men’s 3-meter springboard final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Monday (Aug. 8) at the Paris Aquatics Center in Paris, France, with a total of 374.15 points in the first through sixth dives.

Uharam, who has competed in three consecutive Olympic Games since Rio de Janeiro in 2016, was attempting to win South Korea’s first-ever Olympic medal in diving, but fell short.

South Korea’s best-ever diving result is Woo’s fourth-place finish on the 3-meter springboard at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021.

In the first period, she performed a 5154B with a difficulty of 3.4 with a twist to start the event in 10th place with a score of 71.40 points.

After a 407C to 3.4 difficulty in the second period for 68.00 points to stay in 10th place, Uharam’s big mistake came in the third period, when he performed a 109C to 3.8 difficulty, “jumping into a tuck with a knee to the body in front of him and doing four and a half laps. Uharam’s score of 45.60 dropped him to 11th place.

In the fourth period, Uharam steadily executed a 307C with a difficulty level of 3.5, “jump forward and do three and a half turns in a tuck position,” earning a score of 73.50 and placing him back in 10th place.

In the fifth period, he added 63.00 points to his 205B, a 3.0 difficulty level, “jumping backward into a pike position with knees bent and hands behind the legs,” to move up one spot to ninth place.

However, she dropped back to 11th place with a score of 52.65 points for her 5156B, the highest difficulty level of all the tricks she attempted with twisting movements at 3.9.

Woo remains the only South Korean diver to ever reach the Olympic final. It is no exaggeration to say that she is the ‘living history’ of Korean diving.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Woo became 토토사이트 the first South Korean diver to reach an Olympic final in the men’s 10-meter platform, finishing in 11th place.

At the Tokyo Olympics, she reached the 3-meter springboard final and finished fourth. Although he missed out on a medal, it was the best performance in South Korean diving history.

Uharam also holds the best World Championship result for a South Korean male diving athlete. In Gwangju in 2019, he finished fourth in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards.

After a near-medal performance at the Tokyo Olympics, Uharam suffered a slump following a herniated disk injury. At the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, she finished 19th in the 3-meter springboard preliminaries and failed to qualify for the semifinals.

Uharam bounced back from a long tunnel of injuries to finish eighth in the 3-meter springboard at the World Championships in Doha in February to qualify for Paris.

He finished 12th in the preliminaries and ninth in the semifinals to reach his third consecutive Olympic final, dating back to Rio 2016.

However, his medal dreams were not realized after Tokyo three years ago.

Meanwhile, the men’s 3-meter springboard gold and silver medals were swept by diving superpower China. She Tsui won gold with a total of 543.60 points from the first to sixth dives, while Wang Zhengyuan took silver with 530.20 points.

It was the same result as three years ago in Tokyo. She won her second straight title in the event.
