Infamous Premier League (PL) referee Anthony Taylor will finally be relegated to the English Championship.
“Referee Taylor has been relegated to the Championship after awarding a controversial penalty kick (PK) to Wolverhampton,” the Express and Star reported on Feb. 2.
The controversial incident occurred in the 10th round of the PL between Wolverhampton and Newcastle United on Nov. 29. In the 44th minute, Hwang Hee-chan picked up the ball in the box and went into a kick motion to clear it out of the danger zone, but was caught by Fabian Schaer and a PK was awarded after video assistant referee (VAR) review. The game ended 2-2 with a dramatic equalizer from Hwang Hee-chan, but it was a disappointing decision for Wolverhampton.
