The Samsung Fire men’s professional volleyball team has won four straight matches and chased down the leaders Woori Card.

The team defeated KB Insurance 3-0 (25-22 25-22 25-23) in straight sets in the visiting Dodram 2023-2024 V League at Uijeongbu Gymnasium in Gyeonggi Province on Monday.

Following Hyundai Capital and OK Financial Group, Samsung Fire, which also defeated KB Insurance with a shutout (3-0) in three consecutive games, improved to 4-1 on the season and accumulated 11 points, second only to first-place Woori Card (5 wins, no losses and 14 points).

KB Sonbo has lost four straight games since beating KEPCO in its first match of the season.

Samsung Fire’s main gun Yosvani Hernandez (real name Yosvani) spearheaded the four-game winning streak with a magical offense.

After scoring 13 points in the first set, Yosvani scored the opening point of the second set 21-19 and then immediately blocked a back-attack by Andres Biyena (also known as Biyena) to take a 20-point lead in the second set.

Setter Noh Jae-wook’s ball distribution was also effective, as he alternated between Yosubani and Park Seong-jin on both wings after a solid dig blocked KB Sonbo’s attack.

Unlike KB Sonbo, who didn’t manage a single back-attack in the first set, Samsung Hwajae killed KB Sonbo’s spirits with seven kills in the first set and six in the second.

Samsung Fire was down 16-19 in the third set before a block by Yosvani narrowed the gap and tied the score at 21-21 with another block by Yosvani, who also blocked Bijena’s attack.

It was Yosvani who earned match point with an open score and closed out the match with a back-attack.

Yosubani finished with 32 points on a 64 percent attack success rate, including four blocks, followed by Park Sung-jin with 12 points.

In the women’s match at Hwaseong Gymnasium in Gyeonggi-do, IBK Kookmin Bank defeated Pepper Savings Bank 3-1 (21-25 25-20 25-19 27-25) to record its first back-to-back wins of the season.

IBK, which defeated Road Corporation 3-2 in the previous match, earned its first three points (3-0 or 3-1 victory) of the season. Pepper Savings Bank suffered its third straight loss.

After taking the third set behind an explosive 12-point performance from Brittany Ackromby, IBK turned the tide in the fourth set with a late block and a deuce.

Abecrombie’s block tied the score at 20-21, and Choi’s block made it 24-23.

Choi, who had four blocks on the day, saved match point with a crucial service ace at 25-25, and Lim sealed the victory when she blocked a back-attack from Pepper Savings Bank star Yasmin Bedardt (registered name Yasmin).

Abe Crombie led the scoring with 31 points, while Hwang Min-kyung and Pyo Seung-ju added 10 points apiece. 토토사이트
