Rafael Nadal (261st, Spain) has reached the singles quarterfinals of the Nordic Open (€579,320 in prize money) on the men’s ATP Tour after a four-hour battle.

Nadal defeated 36th-ranked Mariano Navone of Argentina 2-1 (6-7<2-7> 7-5 7-5) in the third singles match on day five of the tournament in Bastad, Sweden, on Tuesday.

This is the first time in nearly two years since Wimbledon 2022 that Nadal has reached the singles quarterfinals at a tour-level event.

After leading 5-2 in the third set, Nadal dropped three games to tie the match at 5-5, before winning the next two games to book his place in the last four.

The match lasted 3 hours, 59 minutes and 44 seconds, the second longest three-set match of Nadal’s career.

Nadal’s longest career three-set match was 4 hours and 3 minutes in 2009 against Novak Djokovic (2nd-Serbia).

Nadal defeated Djokovic 2-1 (3-6 7-6<7-5> 7-6<11-9>) in the quarterfinals of the Madrid Masters.

Nadal will face Duje Azkovic (130th – Croatia) in the quarterfinals.

The tournament’s other four quarterfinal matches are Nadal-Ajkovic, Nuno Borges (No. 51-Portugal) and Thiago Agustin Tirante (No. 121-Argentina).

Nadal, who will compete in the Paris Olympics later this month, has improved his world ranking to around 188 with his quarterfinal appearance. 토토사이트 순위
