OK Financial Group put the brakes on top-ranked Woori Card’s first-round sweep.

OK Financial Group swept Woori Card 3-0 (25-23 26-24 25-22) in straight sets and a shutout in the men’s home match of the Dodram 2023-2024 V League at Ansan Sangryoksu Gymnasium on Wednesday.

OK Financial Group improved to 10 points (4-1) and moved from fourth to third place in the standings, while stopping Woori Card (14-5-1), who had won five straight games, including the opening match, from sweeping their first-round matches.

Leo led the way with 21 points. Shin Shin-jin chipped in with 13 points. Song Hee-chae added 12 points.

Song Hee-chae, who was traded from Woori Card to OK Financial Group in May this year, played a key role in the win.

At 21-21 in the first set, Song Hee-chae broke the balance with a late attack, and Leo’s service ace widened the gap. At 23-22, Shin made a set point with an open attack, and at 24-23, Song Hee-chae ended the set with an open attack.

In the second set, with the score at 24-24 deuce, Leo made an open attack and Woori Card’s Kim Ji-han’s quick open went off the line without reaching the blocker, giving OK Financial Group the lead.

In the third set, at 22-20, Song Hee-chae landed back-to-back open attacks to give OK Financial Group a 24-20 lead and virtually seal the match.

Meanwhile, Woori Card was led by Matei’s 14 points.

In the women’s game, GS Caltex swept Hyundai E&C.

GS Caltex won their home match against Hyundai E&C at Jangchung Gymnasium in Jung-gu, Seoul, 3-0 (25-16 25-20 25-14) in straight sets.
